09/05/2009 v Hellingly 4th XI Won by 134 Runs Pev 184-5 Hellingly 50ao

Lots of good things at the rec yesterday - a win by 134 runs, good batting by Martin T, Will K & super bowling by Chappers & Si Owen. VERY Positive start & again all players up for whatever Skipper asked of them.

16/05/2009 v Seaford 4th XI Won by 40 Runs Pev 210-5 Seaford 170ao

Won toss & scored 210 -5 in 45. P.Board 84, s.Board 43 not, Martin Tideswell 40 including an enormous lost ball 6. They were all out for 170 in their 46th over! sUPER SLIP CATCH BY dAVE tEMPLE WHO ALSO TOOK 2-20. Martin Archer stole the show with 5-25 & an amazing caught & bowled from 17 overs of tight left arm. Good pace from Joe Morgan with 3-30. Great team spirit & support from all players particularly the young guys.

23/05/2009 v Willingdon 3rd XI Won by 25 Runs Pev 154ao W'Don 129ao

Pev struggled to achieve any sort of total but there were 20's from Rich Pocklington & Josh magin with Martyn Archer grinding out a determined 17. A crucial 29 were put on for the last wkt after Nigel parks turned up at the eleventh hour & batted whilst on call. Willingdon progressed smoothly to 120-4 with a certain J. Tingley scoring 25 & captain Shimmons 43. The there was a mosty amazing 15 mins during which W subsided to 129 all out. Martyn Archer was the pick of the bowlers with 7-39 & gEARBOX RETURNED A RESPECTABLE 2-25. Great support from all players again & some super catches.

30/05/2009 v Little Common Ramblers (a) Match Drawn Pev 234-4 LCR 144-8

06/06/2009 v  Newick 3rd XI (h) Match Drawn Pev 191-7 Newick 178-7

13/06/2009 v Bells Yew Green 4th XI (a) Match Drawn Pev 230-7 BYG 190-7

Pevensey lost the toss and were asked to bat at Bells Yew Green. Good starts from Rich P and Nigel were cut short before Louis entered the fray. He immediately went on the attack, hitting the bowlers to all parts. He was supported by most batsmen but dominated the innings and reached his maiden Pev century before finishing on.... Declaring early, the Bells Yew Green openers had to negotiate ten overs before tea. Rob and Chappers bowled with accuracy and fire and it wasn't long before......

20/06/2009 v Rye 3rd XI (a)  Lost by 3 Wickets  Pev 201-9 Rye 203-7

Pevensey lost the toss at Rye & got inserted. A reasonable opening but slumped from 60-2 to 80-5 & 120-8. Nige p & Pamela B then put on 81 for the 9th wkt before a declaration at 201-9 from 48 overs. Craig& Nige got 31, Pamela was 61 n.o.The plastic pitch was not great but shot selection was rather poor & footwork ditto. Having said that Pev were well placed at tea. Rye lost 2 early wkts but their slogger got 40 & their skipper was a class act. Jo Morgan got 4 wkts for 39 & Craig got 2 wkts but then turned his ankle leaving 10 men - a crucial turning point. They got to their target with 3 wkts & 3 overs to spare.

27/06/2009 v Heathfield Park 3rd XI (h) Match Drawn HP 250-4 Pev 224-5

Pevensey won toss and insertd Heathfield Park but they scored 250-4 off 49 overs! Bowling lacked penetration although Gearbox laboured without any luck at all. jamie bowled straight & picked up 2-16 off his 6.

Pevensey went for the runs but were always slightly behind. Finished on 224-5. Nick Gearing batted superbly & got 60 & we had a chance while he was at the crease. 36 to Lance, 32 to rich, 24 to Pamela, good not outs to Archie 18 & Liam 21.

04/07/2009 v Blackboys 2nd XI (h) Match Drawn Blackboys 205 Pev 198-9

Pevensey won the toss & inserted. Did well to restrict them to 205 all out. 4 wkts for Joe Morgan, 3 for Archie, 2 for Gearbox. Blackboys had an injured first teamer who scored 90. Pev started disastrously & were 21-3 after the first 10. Hundred partnership between Skipper Pamela & Gearbox. Pamela went for 38 but Gearbox carried on & made a superb 86. Still left us 40 short however, the tail didnt wag & Pev finished on 198-7 with Andy Adams & Joe russell batting out well.

11/07/2009 v Seaford 4th XI (h) Match Drawn Pev 220-4 Seaford 199-7

Pevensey Batted first & scored 220-4 - runs for all but Tings got a good 50, Miles batted well, & Gearbox completed a hat trick with 68 not out. Gave them 47 overs. All began well & Graham, unable to travel with the 1s, took 5 quick wickets. They were 60-7. However, the ball got wet & their next 2 batted well. Ended on 199-7 with a dropped catch nr the end. 100% given by everyone as always but just unable to get the crucial wkt despite trying all options.

18/07/2009 v Hellingly 4th XI (a) Won by 9 Wickets Hellingly 202-7 Pev 203-1

Pevensey won the toss & put Hellingly in. They made a modest total, given the small ground, of 202-7. Good bowling from Holey(3-52), Archie(1), Joe M(2), Nige P. Great direct hit run out from Martin T. but a few dropped catches.............

Super batting effort, reaching target in 19 overs losing only Rich Pocklington for a fifty. 120 not to Martin T.  - a great, clean hitting knock.

25/07/2009 v Willingdon 3rd XI (a) Won by 73 Runs Pev 161 ao Willingdon 88 ao

Pevensey travelled to Willingdon and were inserted on a wet wicket. Craig 27, Liam 22, simon 19, rich 15  grafted Pev to an adequate 161. It turned out to be plenty! Won the game with great bowling & fielding - all catches taken: some only half chances too. Two direct hit run outs saw them bowled out in the penultimate over for 88.  Craig (3-22), Gearbox(4-20) were massive. Now opening up a decent buffer between us & 3rd placed team

01/08/2009 v Little Common Ramblers 3rd XI (h)Match Abandoned LCR 110ao Pev 13-1

08/08/2009 v Newick 3rd XI (a) Won by 4 Wickets Newick 149-8 Pev 152-6

Great win for Pevensey away to top side Newick but unfortunately ended on rather a sour note. Paul won the toss & put them in on a wet wkt. Great bowling from Joe (amazingly no wkts but great line/length), 3-32 for Chappers & 2-61 for Archie - both bowled 18 overs! They ended on 149-8. Great fielding & spirit as ever.

A persevering 50 not by Ollie T. was the mainstay of Pev's reply. Chappers upped the tempo with 43 & 3 enormous 6's. Pev needed 21 off the last 6 with 6 wkts in hand. Chappers was then bowled, Archie got  a first baller & perko came to the crease. Running like a man possessed 10 were scrambled before he hit an equisite 4 through mid wkt. At this point Ollie was declared not out after a waist high no-ball which was not well received. When the dust settled 4 byes were sent down & Pev won by 4 wkts.

15/08/2009 v Bells Yew Green 4th XI (h) Lost by 4 Runs BYG 141 ao Pev 137 ao

With only 10 players & lack of depth in batting Pev were always going to struggle. Chappers/Archie bowled well to take 4 & 2 wkts for not many but we were complacent & too many got themselves out. Ollie batted well again for 43......but also got himself out! Pev remain second but Heathfield now in striking distance & we play them sat week - big game.

22/08/2009 v Rye 3rd XI (h) Won by 83 Runs Pev 215-5 Rye 132 ao

Pevensey were were inserted & got to 215-5 using 44 overs. Runs for all with Miles top scoring with a rapid 47 in about 30 mins. We bowled them out for 132 with 7 overs to spare. 3 for Chappers, 4 for Craig & 1 each for Simon & Nige.

29/08/2009 v Heathfield Park 3rd IX (a) Won by 67 Runs Pev 173-7 HP 106 ao

Pevensey were inserted at Heathfield & struggled on the plastic pitch initially dawdling to 41-2 after 17 obers. Then Ollie & Giles came together & both scored 50's. Miles was explosive while Ollie again showed great commitment & carried his bat. 174-7 looked like either side had a shout.

After tea Chappers bowled with his usual commitment & occasional fire. He only took 1 wkt but Jake was inspired at the other end bowling great lines & taking 4. Simon wiped up the tail after Jamie Morgan got in the act with a great run out  & catch -  they were all out for 106. Promotion is certain now & Pevensey could  even win the league depending on Newick's results.

05/09/2009 v Blackboys 2nd XI (a) Won by 5 Wickets Blackboys 114 ao Pev 117-5

The 2's season finished on a high note with a convincing win away to Blackboys. With the skipper rested, Rich won the toss & inserted & Blackboys were soon in trouble at 9 for 2 after a spectacular catch by Simon B & a straight one from Chappers. Wkts fell regularly & were shared evenly with 2 for Chappers, gearbox, joe morgan & Simon B. The oppo were bowled out in 41 overs for 114.

Before tea Liam was an early victim but a 50 partnership followed between Ollie & Simon who both batted sensibly against some attacking bowling from their 2 openers. A mini collapse followed when Ollie was bowled for 25 but Simon carried his bat for 36 & Gearbox hit the winning boundary to give a ninth victory of the season at 117-5. Promotion had already been secured the previous week in what has been a fantastic season where only two games were lost, the lowest in the division.
